    Hiya,

    Simply put, a backlink is where you place your website name on somebody else’s blog or website but is clickable back to your own website, in other words when you run the mouse arrow over it, it will then normally underline or change colour to show that it is clickable. Here is an example of a backlink to show you what I mean http://www.oakleysunglassescase.com. The purpose of backlinks is to make people know of you in a lot more places and ultimately drive more traffic to your site because of this. Many people actively look to create loads of backlinks throughout the internet as part of their SEO game plan, because it is believed that it also benefits your ranking in Google search results. The more backlinks you have the more that Google view your site as popular and relevent to that particular search query, so then the site will be placed higher in the search results. Well that’s the theory anyway!

    Backlinks : Simply A link from other site which pointing towards your site. All search engine Count this as a vote to the site which the link pointing to.

    For Example Consider Two websites. site1 and site2. If site2 have a link which pointing to site1, then its a back link of site1. and that will be counted as a vote for site 1.

    But remember this is just basic explanation. there are lot of thinks to study while building links.
    the most important one is relevancy.

    You can build links by Directory submissions, article submissions, social bookmarks, blog comments, etc.
