Need Help With Backlinks?

I was told that if you comment on blogs then that builds backlinks to your website and improves the ranks in google, but if you answer questions on yahoo answers and leave your website url then it doesnt build backlinks and doesnt improve ranking. Why?

    Well there are two aspects here:

    1) You have to be a level 2 contributor before your links are "clickable," or before they have the HTML anchor tag. If you are not level 2, then there will just be text, and search engines can’t follow that.

    2) Yahoo Answers is nofollow. Some search engines follow these links, some don’t, and some follow but don’t pass on the pagerank "juice," which means it is a backlink, but it won’t increase your pagerank but will increase your search engine rank.

    It can improved ranking, maybe the one’s answering on yahoo is a bit spammy type which then be reported and the answerend posts gets removed.
