How much would it cost me to make a website?

I allready have a website with a page rank of 2 and a workable script. Its like autotrader.com, but its free.
The script is all right, but how much would it cost me to make a website from scratch, build backlinks and promote it so i can compete with autotrader and take over it since it will offer same service but for free?
Any idea?
well, for getting started you can look into programs like nvu to create your website and then a hosting service such as godaddy.com advertises hosting and domains for less than $1 a month. Advertising is going to be the more expensive part, maybe an ad in your local newspaper to start might be good. However you ave to keep in mind that Autotrader has a booklet that you can buy that also lists the vehicles, I think this is where a majority of their buisness is from.

use an off the shelf package, such as Joomla etc it will only cost you the price of the hosting and domain then.
good luck with the site – one thing that Autotrader does very poorly is look after people browsing for a car – there are so many scammers on there trying to get peoples money, so maybe you could find a way to prevent this.
