Email marketing becomes spam when the recipient of the email didn’t authorize to receive the email from you. However, if the person you’re emailing has authorized to receive emails from you containing marketing, then this will not be considered as spam. Therefore it all depends on whether the person you’re emailing to has actually allowed you to email them with any kind of marketing.
TV etc advertising is paid for by the client and the TV company transmits it to you and you have no choice as to whether it is received into your TV. Spam is advertising but it is unwanted advertising. You have the means to stop it coming into your in box.What I call spam may be something in which you are interested. Compare it with plants. Weeds are unwanted plants of certain varieties whereas some plants in my garden that are considered as weeds I actively allow to grow.

Its not spam its a marketing strategy but if its unauthorized then that is illegal and i still don’t know how these guys get away with it.
