Are link exchange websites like TheLinkSwap.com and LinkMarket.net beneficial to gaining page rank?

I’m thinking of joining one of those websites. They both make the process of exchanging links easier, but how to search engines treat those types of links? Would google/yahoo/bing consider those types of links a plus or a minus?

    Don’t do it.

    Those sites will tell you that it doesn’t violate Google’s rules, but it does.

    And plus you will get a ton of spam.
